About me
Hi!
I’m Orsi Varró, the founder of Hoopla Sewing.
This dream of mine has been alive since 2020 when I started building my own brand. Just a few years ago, I was sitting in the office of a multinational corporation, daydreaming about how I could make the world a better place by doing something I love.
Creating has always brought me joy—even as a child, it made me truly happy. But life took me on a different path, and for a long time, I said goodbye to crafting. Instead, I studied languages and explored the corporate world.
When I finally started listening to my heart again, I realized I needed to create! Five years ago, I borrowed an old sewing machine, and it brought so much joy into my life. I started sewing. Soon, I had my own machine and enrolled in a dressmaking course, which I successfully completed in 2019.
Alongside sewing, I became increasingly aware of how much waste we generate and how I wanted to do more to protect our environment. This inspired me to explore eco-friendly solutions that involve sewing. I started with reusable produce bags, then moved on to facial cleansing pads, and later washable menstrual pads, reusable napkins, and snack bags. I hope to expand this range even further!
What can you find on my website?
Unique, handmade, high-quality products made in Hungary that can significantly reduce your household waste.
With washable menstrual pads, you can completely eliminate waste generated during your period and take a step toward sustainable menstruation.
Leftover fabrics from the production of menstrual pads are repurposed into facial cleansing and makeup remover pads, further reducing unnecessary waste.
Recently, I launched my first clothing collection. The goal? To gift you with timeless, eco-friendly, and comfortable everyday clothing made from sustainable materials—pieces that can become cherished staples in your wardrobe.
What materials do I work with?
I place great emphasis on the materials I use! I strive to work with diverse textiles that hold OEKO-TEX Standard 100 or GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certifications. These materials are eco-friendly and free from harmful substances. My goal is to deliver unique and sustainable products to you!
In addition, many of my products are made from discarded fabric scraps, reducing the waste that burdens our planet.
Why do I do this?
Because sewing is my calling, and I believe we all have an impact on our environment. Even a small step toward reducing unnecessary waste makes a big difference.
I value conscious purchasing—sourcing from local producers and artisans to support small businesses, ethical textile production, and sustainable fashion.
Thank you for being here with us!
